Tory MP concerned about delay in publication of OBR analysis

Conservative MP Mel Stride, who chairs the Treasury Select Committee, has told Sky News he is unhappy about the projected date when the Office of Budget Responsibility will publish its analysis of the government's plans for the economy.

Prime Minister Liz Truss said this morning there are no plans to publish the OBR's analysis before 23 November, when the Chancellor will make another financial statement.

Asked if that was good enough, Mr Stride said: "No, I don't think it is. Because right at the heart of the problems we are discussing here is a lack of confidence that the markets have had in the fiscal credibility of the government's policies.

"And the way that you establish that fiscal credibility is you have, firstly, credible fiscal targets. And we don't yet know what those are or when they're going to bite."

I can not listen to any conservative MP without feeling anger and hate. I have stopped listening to them, we simply need to lawfully and peacefully remove them all from office

MP's should vote against this budget. It is nothing more than a way for Kwarteng to short the £ & make money for his mates.

Truss will have to back down and get some of her chancellors mini budget reversed, or have the O.B.R. report published, that's if such a report exists.

OBR report will not be good, that's why they didn't want it published and called it a non-budget

He should be concerned about more than that.

38 years a Tory voter, but never again. We've gone from bad to worse with Truss and this bunch of schoolboys, just a bunch of left over amateurs from the Johnson era.
I'll be voting for Starmer at the next general election, Labour for the first time in my life, as he's leading the only one of the two main parties I feel I can now trust with my vote. I feel embarrassed to be a Conservative right now.

We need a Privileges Committee investigation into insider trading.

Being transparent with the public should be automatic. Hiding something is very disrespectful to the British people.

A thinly veiled political threat in answer to the question “will Liz Truss be leading the party into the next GE”

Usually I would only give Sophie 1, but on the evidence of this interview, I am more likely to want to give her at least 2.
