What made this movie awesome is this scene reveals The human Murphy inside Robocop when we see Murphy's eye peering through the cracked visor... Proving he was not totally changed into a robot, that his humanity still exists...

Peter Weller did a fantastic job in robocop role. The best scenes are his.

I love how symbolic this scene is. Like you said. Even though He was built by a corrupt company, he was so dedicated to his job as a police officer that he still went and tried to arrest his makers. But like you said, unfortunately, they saw that possibility. (or at least Dick Jones did, since directive 4 was his contribution) and put a failsafe in him so he cant act against them.

The Robocop's truth is that for corporation every human is just a product.

Started off watching one scene from this masterpiece, and burned my phone down to 3% watching Robocop scenes, one after the other. I love this film.

"Any attempt to arrest a senior Google employee results in shutdown" - yeah, we joke about it today ...

0:29 Dick Jones tapping the triumphant music whilst smirking as RoboCop comes in to arrest him is probably the most subtle and brilliant 4th wall breaks in cinema. At that point you realise he in one step ahead of both RoboCop and the audience watching. Superb directing!

I love the music and entire entrance along with the first person view from robo cop when the elevator doors open to the floor to jones office as he walks to his office...fuckin makes my hair stand up...jesus. I was 5 years old when I saw this in the movies...damn this scene ABSOLUTELY stuck with me ever since. ...just amazing music, acting the sense of justice interwoven into the robocop score as he walks towards his office ....the foot steps as he first walks off the elevator....the amazing head snap as he makes the angle turn from the straight away from the elevator...with the accompanying music was simply UNBELIEVABLE! I was wide eyed and speechless leaving the movie theatre... memories!

So Directive 4 is basically Robocop’s kryptonite

I always get a feeling a dread as Robocop walks into the ocp building, proud, high and mighty, not knowing he'd only just manage to leave the place in one piece. ;*(

The line "maybe you'd like to meet a friend of mine" and then sudden buzzing annoucing the appearance of ED209 is one of the biggest "OH moments I've had in a movie, I didnt see it coming as a kid

Very likely this will happen in the future. A robotic product resulting in shut down if they oppose a member of the company that built them. Makes a lot of sense.

Weller was so perfect for this role, they needed a skinny guy who could fit inside the suit, but also the way Robocop talks.. in this clip when he says: “you are under arrest” his voice sounds so awesome, very artificial, deep, robotic and menacing, great casting.

Regardless of how good CGI gets, to this day nothing creeps me out as much as that old stop motion animation for that large robot. The jerkiness in its movements just make it so creepy.

I cannot wait for Robocop Rogue City featuring Peter Weller reprising his role and the badass ED209 in it as well.

I like it best when there's a mix of both involved. Practical effects and CGI look even cooler when used in conjunction than when they're separate. It's all about finding the right balance.

Basically, practical effects should be the setup, with CGI to fill in the blanks.
