The blowing out of the candle at the end really makes it feel like I was listening to a pirate captain in a quiet pub, and when he finished his tale he reveals he was a ghost all along and vanishes in a cold salty mist that extinguishes all the lights as it blows out the window.

The Shadow an old wives' tale used to scare children away from a life at sea, but those who were urged onward by these stories know differently The Shadow is real. Some say she never had a crew, some say the crew became the ship. All say that the shadow is not something of this world. There have been new tales from crews saying they've seen The Shadow with skeletons hanging from her rigging and a man at the helm with no eyes. I will have to see it for myself before I believe these tales.

I can't stop listening. How the upbeat melody contradicts the story, but conveys a sense of adventure simultaneously, the placement of the candle, the camera angles, the lyrics... it is perfection. I like the subtle effect of your eyes being hidden. Any time a character does this in movies or books, it always adds an extra layer of mystery to the scene. Maybe the real reason behind this is simply because you don't want your face fully out there, but I also love all the comments that talk about the possible lore behind hiding your eyes being hidden.
