I think the Italian's would have held the Alps and Appenines much longer. I've been to the Dolomites and those mountains passes could help by my grandma with a broomstick.

In 1939 Italian Air force was a bit stronger than Luftwaffe. Furthermore, Alps are easily defendible by an Army equipped to combat in mountain environment as well Italian Army was. May be Germans could success in some sector but nothing more. No charge of tanks in the Alps bow. Only trench war and two air forces of almost pair strength. Very hard to fight.

Great job, seems to be a great series, but I have two questions:
1. Do you really think Italy would have declared war against a country it has no chance to defeat?
2. Do you think Germany could advance so easily against Italy, France, UK, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Benelux all together?
