Ethiopia's Olympic heroes ready to join Tigray war - BBC News

Ethiopian Olympic heroes Haile Gebrselassie and Feyisa Lilesa say they are ready to go to the front line in the war against rebel forces.

Their announcement comes after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said he would go to the front to lead the war.

Tigrayan rebels say they are advancing towards the capital Addis Ababa.

Germany and France have become the latest countries to advise their citizens to leave Ethiopia, as the civil war escalates.

I hope the media can really dig deeper into the history of all of this. Since 1975, the TPLF has been wanting to take more power than what is represented by the population of the Tigray region. The Ethiopian Prime Minister Ahmed called for national representation from all regions and right after he did it, the TPLF rejected it and went their own way by having their own elections. No country would allow a state to take over the central government and neither will Ethiopia. The media needs to learn the full story before they start reporting. I hope for a peaceful solution truly in Ethiopia.
