Great work. I'm working on a 670zx with the same problem. I can't figure out why the playback head has a loss of 6db on the right channel.

I have repaired over 20 Three head Naks and have come across many open head coils on the play heads and mostly in the left channel. It is also not uncommon that these heads develop one poor channel even though they still measure good on the coils. i am not sure why maybe corrosion ?

Hello, I wanted to ask because I know that you are familiar with the NAKAMICHI company because I am planning to buy a tape recorder of the 670zx or 680zx series, whether these tape recorders are worth paying the price between 1, 300 and 1, 600 dollars depending on the condition, or maybe for similar money, could you recommend something about such parameters and durability, thank you very much for the information and best regards.
