Once again Epic Games have released a number of free assets for Unreal Engine developers. There are 5 "free for the month" assets that are yours to keep forever once purchased (for free). In this video we go hands-on with these free assets.

There is currently no addition to the permanently free collection. Historically that has meant there will be an additional giveaway later in the month, so stay tuned for further announcements (it is GDC after all!).

You need to select PostProcessVolume in the scene, and in section "Global Illumination" select "Method - None" to display the scene correctly.

I enjoy seeing this each month. Thank you for sharing!

That's actually kind of a relief to realize that the post-processing exposure settings between 5 to 5.1 were changed. Not long ago, I was following along with a v5.0 tutorial using v5.1, and whenever they brought up changing the exposure in the post processing volume I was getting a wildly different result when plugging in the same numbers. I just assumed I must have done something wrong somewhere else.

Thanks, for demo scenes, set Exposure Metering to Manual, then set the value to 10

Could your lighting be an issue on apple Hardware? I think a bunch of default features are relying on dx12 to work properly and might break on Linux and MacOS (and old windows PC's)

pls fix your exposure....plenty of cases where a fixed value does NOT make any sense

I don't have the issue with levels being too dark. Try opening the "Show" menu in the editor viewport and click "Use Defaults" at the top.

Just tried the opera scene out on a 5.2 Apple Silicon build - seems to be identical to your look around in terms of visuals and performance (on Epic settings). Unscientific but good to know for any other Mac Studio (M1 Max) users as Unreal has been a bit of a pain to use for me till 5.2. It also fixes a lot of rendering issues, specially on foilage

Ambient Cubemap is the better PP to boost the light

I miss the times when foliage was a big deal on this channel.

Observing chromatic aberration when I was tripping really blew my mind. Made me kind of question the way the universe worked lol.

I think it's worth going over this current version of the EULA for Unreal, now. I just found out that mega scans can't be used at all, except for your own personal evaluation, if you acquired them for free on the marketplace. Otherwise you need to have an account with them, personal or indie. Educational will still mean you can't sell it. That's just one thing I found that I believe is new, or at least is new to me. Worth noting, for sure. Might be that I missed it before.
