Employee dead in oven at Halifax Walmart found by her mother, Sikh society says

“A young, beautiful girl who came to Canada with big dreams,” is how a 19-year-old Halifax Walmart employee is being remembered, as her friends and family struggle with the devastating details of her death.

The Maritime Sikh Society has identified the victim of last Saturday night’s incident as Gursimran Kaur, with the permission of her mother. Both mother and daughter are part of the Sikh community and had been working at the Walmart store on Mumford Road for about two years.

It was her mother, according to the society, who found Kaur inside the store’s bakery department while the store was still open. Halifax Regional Police have confirmed the victim’s body was found in a walk-in oven.

I work at Walmart, A co worker shoved me inside the freezer she’s hateful and very angry at me. Thankfully I didn’t die. I had to file a report about the incident and Walmart didn’t do anything. I was traumatized and all that. Cameras should be everywhere specially bakery and deli areas because this can happen.

I worked for Walmart in the deli/bakery for 12 years. There is no way this was an accident. You can’t lock yourself in the oven because you have to push the door of those types of ovens hard to close them. Even if you did manage close yourself in, there’s a door release that you just push and it opens the door. Plus you can’t start the oven with the door open. So many things don’t add up in this.

I also got trapped in a walk in freezer in a lab in Canada once which closed behind me. The door was jammed and would not open. I was there for about 15 mins before another coworker thankfully found me.

I worked at a bakery for Albertsons, first thing i had to do is turn the oven on at 459 degrees and there's no reason to walk inside the oven, the racks inused gets latched to the inside of the oven always uses high heat gloves. There is an emergency latch inside in case the door closes but everyone is trained and #1 rule do not walk in oven. Truly sad but there's more to this story, i hope detectives check the cameras. Cameras are everywhere in Walmart. This is ridiculous that they are covering something!

Someone took her life. My sister worked in the HEB backery and she said there is a button or door handle to get out if the door closes. Yet says the doors dont close on their own and need a good amout of force to close
