In this engaging debate, an outspoken atheist takes on renowned Christian apologist Cliffe Knechtle in a lively discussion around the moral implications of the Bible. Central to their exchange is the question: How can the Bible be considered morally sound when it prescribes severe punishments for adultery and homosexuality?

The atheist challenges traditional interpretations of biblical laws, arguing for a morality grounded in human understanding and empathy rather than divine fear. As they navigate complex topics like adultery, homosexuality, and the context of ancient legal systems, both participants delve into the significance of consent, personal pain, and societal norms.

Anybody that says they aren't afraid of going to hell have no idea what they are saying. I've been to hell at 6 years old and it's far more horrible than people imagine. Jesus saved me at 8 years old.

The Bible says that the law was given because the countries around Israel were committing the sins that God said, Don't do. Paul wrote to Timothy that the law was given for lawbreakers and sinners; listing a number of sins including, homosexuality.

Cliff is making a misstake about divorce in matthew 19, Jesus said, it was Moses who permitted divorce not God. Because people put Moses under pressure, he allowed them to give certificate of divorce to their wivies. But it doesn't say that God allowed them!

03:50 this guy keeps asking if the Law is bad? And Cliff keeps going to Matthew 19. I don’t understand why he doesn’t go to Romans 7. Paul asked if the Law is bad then Paul says that the law is holy and just and good but it did not work to correct our behaviors cause man is sinful and in the flesh. Good Law. Bad flesh. That is why we needed to be crucified with Jesus Christ!

Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Romans 7:14 For I know that in me (that is IN MY FLESH) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Christianity did not start 2000 years ago..
Christianity started with Adam and Eves disobedient towards God.
God said that Eves seed would bring the savor.
That's the start of our faith !

What is “wrong” about adultery is it is a violation of commitment & it undermines trust.

Notice in all this dialogue Cliffe cautions spectators to not take the Bible “out of context”… meanings that applied 3000 yrs ago.

And yet, here he is 3000 yrs later trying to convince observers that the Bible still applies to the modern world !! I suspect he’d have some rationale for doing so, like the Bible isn’t really that important but the existence of god is. Or some other dubious theological retort. But if that’s the case why does the Bible play the primary function of spreading the word if its values & meanings don’t apply any longer in the contemporary world ?? It’s because the Bible is ALL THEY HAVE AS EVIDENCE for their beliefs. And what is the Bible? Little more than personal testimonies on the part of ancients of which a very small percentage had any formal education about the wider world. At that time most people of the biblical era didn’t even know of the existence of North & South Americas & even Australia. (So as a side note, how could they know for a fact there was a “global flood”?)

On to the “sin” of L****Q etc. The main religious reason such activity is viewed as sinful is… keep in mind when christianity was first growing as a belief system. In order to recruit and bring new followers into the fold, the early church made the production of new babies raised in the faith as a main objective. Let’s fact fact, even they KNEW people died at some point and the requirement of producing new converts was & still is a “prime directive”. It’s one of the reasons the church in general & evangelicals in particular oppose abortion. It interferes with having a consistent & plentiful supply of potential converts. Abortion & L****Q lifestyles interfere with their long term plans. Not because it’s an Intrinsic moral failing !!

What they refuse to admit though is the world’s current demands are that we humans have already OVERPOPULATED the planet. Anyone whose taken an “objective” survey of reviewing known & exhausted natural resources of this planet can expect the price for virtually everything to increase as time passes for the simple reason the world’s population (estimated) from the time of Jesus 150 Million globally, to present day 8.3 BILLION and you should have your answer. The more people, the more demand and the higher prices go.
But a person Never hears or sees clergy or apologists address the population question. And that is on purpose.
