Bro i remimber when my first tf2 friend gave me a tommislav. I still have it to this day and use it regularly. To him it was half a scrap. But to me it was an entirely new way to play heavy.

This happened to me on the last smissmas. Hoovy was dressed like a Santa and he gave the whole server the gifts. And he gave me my first hat. I was f2p, so I can't say "thanks" so I just stay next to him and clicked ctrl so many times. Thank you Santa Hoovy, i still have this hat 🤧💕

This happened to me once on a 2fort server a few months ago:

I was talking to some people, asking them how I could buy or get weapons/hats hoping there was like an ingame currency I could use (since I was new) where I was then told about trading, a system I didn't want to deal with. This was when they became determined to give me a hat no matter how many times
I reassured them that I didn't care, and long story short; I got my first few hats from gifts.

I'm still an F2P and I've been playing TF2 for 8 years now(2014, time flies 😭)

I remember back in 2015 someone indirectly gave me a cosmetic;
I was in a server running CP_Orange during December 2015. I had an End Of The Line crate stuck in my inventory for a little bit now. I don't really remember what 100% happened but I was hanging out with the dudes in the server and for reasons I forgot, someone gave me the key for the EOTL crate.
I was heavily stoked and I went and opened up the crate. I unboxed myself a Hunter Heavy, which I still have 7 years later.

To whom gave me that key, thank you.

Whenever i gift something to f2ps they always just say "thx" and not even use it, or sell it right away for refined metals to then get scammed the very next day. I eventually stopped gifting them any item whatsoever

I remember the first time i got a cosmetic in tf2. the acount i got it on i no longer use. it was a scout shirt. I got it from winning a game of rock paper scissors.

I remember when I got too much hats and taunts, I'd usually give some of it up to newbies or people who didnt have fancy hats. Afew years later I cashed out and gave up whatever I had to my friends or random ass people
