ACNE TREATMENT DIFFERIN GEL | Skincare Update

Differin (Adapalene) is a Vitamin A derivative, a third generation retinoid with proven efficacy and safety in the treatment of non-inflammatory acne. I am on Week 2 (going on Week 3) with Differin when this video was recorded. If you have never used retinoids in the past, slowly introduce this to your night regimen. Apply moisturizer after to lessen incidence of irritation. Use sunscreen daily, SPF 30 which offers broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. Discontinue using Differin if you experience irritation. Consult and follow your doctor's advice.

You know I went very invasive and did Accutane (this was almost 20 years ago) and it changed my skin. Now we have much more options. On the topic of Retinol -- I am with you, have mixed emotions with it. I saw a client yesterday for makeup and I had to apply and reapply foundation and buff it gently, (she was peeling AND she told me she used a Clarisonic on top of it, so skin was dry/ peeling, really not ideal before applying layers of makeup). I didn't realize that you could get Differin OTC. One of my nieces used the RX and it made a huge difference for her.

I am fortunate that I never had acne or almost no blemishes so I really haven't had to learn about these meds but I'm so glad that there are effective treatments like this for those who need them

Fantastic tips! Acne is the worst... once you get it under control you have to maintain it because it comes back with a vengeance! Like an angry bee!

Glad you made a note how it compares to tretinoin! I used to use tretinoin and that did wonders for my skin but it really went through a purging process that was hard to bare. Luckily my acne is nowhere near where it was before but I still wonder if it's a good option to stave off wrinkles?

I used differin years ago when it was still rx. I had no idea there was an over the counter version.

Differin just didn't work for me. I went through the purge and then never came out of it, 5 weeks later.

I tried Differin when it was still prescription. I think it was too strong for my skin. I'm kinda tempted to try it again though - for my cystic acne.

How's differin treat ur skin? Did u suffer any dryness/ purge at the beginning? Mine is dry, red n peeling only 3 days using it & i dont know is that normal or not? Any tips? Thanks babe
