Windows 11 is not as bad as people think.. it's worse.

1. it's all marketing spyware now.
2. updates suck and often install garbage apps you don't want.
3. UI is reduced to sliders and buttons, not true settings.
4. Microsoft... you get what sucks. Disappointing billions since DOS.

The ceiling reeks, the walls are crumbling, the furniture is rotting away, but that doesn't mean the house is bad.

Advertisements don't belong in your operating system period . One day burial will not be permitted unless the coffin has an always on display tormenting your dead eye sockets with ads for all of eternity . That's their end game plan and I believe it lol .

What makes Windows 11 bad is that Microsoft took away most of our choices (such as the taskbar properties or start menu). Then they decided to rearrange things and not allow us to (natively) choose how we want them (such as the context menus). Windows is a productivity tool, changing it, arbitrarily, interferes with me getting my work done.

How they made Windows 11: Take Windows 10, a known working and mostly stable operating system, and sh*t all over it.

Windows 11 was built on Windows 10. Microsoft is not creating a new OS from scratch, they reused the code from previous versions of Windows

Users shouldn't have to hack their registry or group policy editor to change a setting or disable a feature.

If Windows 11 is so good ! Why are there so many third party apps out there to modify Windows 11 for nearly every user of Windows 11 ? If an OS is any good it would have good user customization built in. Preventing users from customising the OS is very bad. Either they are worried the OS security could be easily compromised due to poor design and programming knowledge or they are too lazy to bring out an OS that Window's users deserve and need !

Its terrible windows are trying to do what apple has done which is have an ecosystem which you cannot tweak out of the box. Windows should be a simple basic install and you add things in that you want.

Windows 11 (and 10) suck because it crams in too much crap that I didn't ask for, which is hard to remove, and none of which is needed to make the OS function. I simply refuse to waste my time with it, that's why I stay with Windows 7 + Mint, and XP on some retro laptops.

11 is just so so, the only issue for me is the "show more options" to make cut, copy, and past more time consuming. Plus the fact that I had to buy a mini PC in case something wouldn't run on Windows 10 one day.

I used for some time. But when I found it difficult to stop the anti-virus and firewall applications, I removed it and returned to Windows 10.

No no no no no. You don't get to mentally separate the bad stuff and say it doesn't matter. It's part of the OS, therefore the OS is overall bad. For a product I purchased, I shouldn't have to go through trillion menus just to disable 1/3 of the spyware. Just, no.

Simple answer - it's not Windows 7

Bad UI, ads, telemetry, Microsoft account requirement, etc. It's basically malware at this point and not an OS.

I moved to Linux mint to avoid that very telemetry. No OS is perfect though, use the best one for your needs!

I used to buy PCs direct from Microsoft with Windows 10 Signature Edition. It was a clean OS with no pre-installed bloatware. Is the signature edition still an option with Windows 11? Alternatively, will performing a clean install of Windows 11 remove all bloatware?

0:34 _but that doesn't make it necessarily a bad operating system_ um yes it is a terrible operating system, as you just mentioned you before this line you said there are a lot of ads and a lot of settings you have to turn off. This is NOT an ideal operating system, especially if you have paid for it. Windows 95 all the way to Windows 7 felt like a simple operating system, you didn't get pop ups (all though Windows 7 eventually did for migration to Windows 10), the previous operting systems didn't force you to do a lot of changes or force you into a microsoft account, it was just a simple operating system that allowed you to get your work done.

Windows 10 and onwards is just so bloated (yes its very bad on crappy hardware and even on virtualbox compared to Windows 7) and so much annoying popups. I remember once I was watching something and a popup came up to update your computer and I pressed escape and it forced an update within few minutes, closing all of my stuff. Continously I would get notifications to "sign in to microsoft" crap, or when you start your PC it will "remind you" to sign in with a microsoft account in full screen and they would have a tiny button that says "remind me in 3 days".

Also when you are installing either Windows 10 or 11, for privacy questions you can either select to send additional information or basic information to microsoft, is there an option to send 'NO DATA'? It goes to show you how little control you have over the operating system.

Windows 11 also has such obnoxious hardware requirements, you have to have tpm2 and other stuff otherwise your computer belongs in landfill after windows 10 goes away.

I have moved to EndeavourOS (arch linux) using xfce. It is so much better, it feels like Windows XP except with more modern look and feel. It is simple, it doesn't have popups and I can just use the damn thing without problems like Windows 10/11.

Chris Titus updates his script regularly. I've had no issues with his scripts and O&O shutup 10 I rerun it after every update, again no issues. I've even had a newbie friend of mine use those, and she's wowed by how much faster her computer is.
