My Blackstar ID 100 amp has a micro USB out, so I run a cable from that to my MacBook direct. No interface. I use a lot of gain, and choose to use very few of the GarageBand guitar patches. I like it to sound as “live” as I can make it. Oddly, with all the gain I use, I still find the best and most versatile way to record guitar into GB is Acoustic Guitar/Natural Stereo.

I have a German-made Sennheiser amp mic. I have used it in live performances, but I would like to use it for recording.

Got an iRig HD2...comparatively 'old school'. 🙂

Have you tried using the Fender Mustang Micro Plus from your guitar to the Mac or IPad using Garageband to see if latency or interference is still an issue?

No love for the Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter?

A mic in front of the amp is the way that most bands will have recorded their stuff for decades. If going down this route what are the mic options (not necessarily what you’d use for vocals I guess) and how does this impact one’s choice of interface?

I have a guitar effects unit(which can be used as an interface itself) and find I'm not getting a signal after I connect it through my Motu interface I must be dong something slightly wrong? Did you ever hear of a certain order in which you switch your gear? I think my MOTU needs to turned on first even before GB powers up? Cool vid pal.

I'm using the Scarlett 2i2, connecting my acoustic guitar with a pick up. It doesn't seem to register the sound. I've also got headphones connected to the interface, and I hear playback through them (if I've got a mic connected to the interface).

What am I doing wrong here? Is it possible that the cable is defective?

Thanks to all in advance! This is driving me up the wall😂

It would be nice if you could explain how to record an already processed guitar signal. That is, how one bypass the build amp models (thinking of the amp models in GarageBand). And by the way mic’ing is not an option.
