Ever wonder how easy it is to sous vide eggs in the Thermomix TM6 or TM5? Well in this comparison video, it shows that both machines do a fantastic job with the optimum cooking temperature for eggs being 65* for 65 minutes

And the best part is that it is incredibly easy to do at home!

I will be posting more detailed stories with cooking comparisons in the sous vide, slow cooker and fermentation modes.

Be sure to subscribe if you would like to see how the machines compare in various cooking modes.

We will also be updating our social media with all our results.

So fun facts..

The Japanese women would take some eggs to the onsen (natural hot springs), and would have the eggs sitting in the water with them, or more likely in the pool a little up from them which was hotter, once they finished their bathing, the eggs were ready to be eaten.

The slower cooking temp for longer time means that the egg protein is not over cooked, and gives a more creamy mouth feel.
The original egg recipe was "The 64 degree egg' 64 degrees for 60 min, but science has come back and said anything between about 62 - 65 is totally fine, and the timing will depend more on the size of the eggs than any mystic perfect number..

Great vid J.

Oh also, shock the eggs in an ice bath for a few moments, it will stop the eggs from cooking (less important with 64' eggs) and more importantly will loosen that membrane from the egg itself making it easier to peel.

I am sorry, but this is not comparable situation. The egg from TM5 after 45 min was spoiled by the presenter so no possible to compare the consistency of whites . Not shown the inside of the yolks after 45 min and 1 h either. I find this test completely useless.

I wish you had broken the yolks at some point so we could see the results.

By the way I have TM5 to save time, cook faster and easier. I tried one time to cook eggs. Thermomix is for this purpose totally useless to me if I can cook eggs in 5-7 minutes (depending on desirable softness). If somebody has 1 hour time of the morning to lose just to wait for eggs from TM5 or TM6 it means he/she is a very happy individual.

Have you ever tried with duck eggs? Is it different?

That's a lot of water, power and time to waste just to boil an egg.

I don't have 45 mins to cook an egg.

Sorry to say it’s a waste of time and money. I can cook a poached egg in about five minutes. This is such a lazy way of cooking. When I cook I put passionate into the food and I know it’s done by myself I don’t want a machine robot doing it for me sorry but it’s just a gimmick.
