Where did you get the seats from?! I’ve been looking for seats for my Jetta and all I can find are racing seats

Water spots on my Jetta are horrible too. Mine is the dark red they came out with for the mk6.5.

I’ve got a MK6 in the tan/gold color and it hides dirt well. I have the stick shift, too!

I have a 2.5 L SE which is a manual, and I love it! I don't think I could drive that car with out the manual trans. and a full after market exhaust with stage 1 tune which just makes the manual way more worth it!

Damn... automatic is a deal-breaker for me. It's SO hard to find a good used car with a manual these days. I mean, they exist, but when doing a search, it's literally less than 10 percent of the total cars available. I'm looking into potentially buying a MKVI Jetta but my budget is less than 10 grand, maybe up to about 12 max if I can find the right car. But weeding out the automatics leave very few options even within a 150-mile radius.

I'm leaning towards a car with the 2.5L engine. I love that engine a lot, but the MKVI Jettas have twistbeam rear suspension and hydraulic steering (IRS and electric steering came on the GLI). The problem with the hydraulic steering is that it gets in the way of IE's short runner intake manifold, and that's a huge bummer for me because the manifold really helps carry the torque of the 2.5L all the way to 7k RPM, really opening up the top end of that engine. So I'm in a bit of a conundrum. I could always buy the MKIV I'm looking at (good price) and later convert to electric steering. That wouldn't be too difficult. I doubt I'd bother swapping over the IRS just due to the fact that there's so many parts involved that I would have to go pull from a used car.

Anyway, thanks for sharing the pros and cons of the car. It's always good to have critical feedback! I might even look into the 1.4T, if I find one that happens to fall into my price range.

#1 Thing I Hate About My Mk6:
I got the 2.5 and there’s not a single turbo (readily) available on the market for it ):

Hey be happy you don't have to keep on pressing the clutch and going 1 2 1 2 1 in traffic

Got a mk5 2009 jetta for $750 hehe. Put about $500 into and it runs great. Feels like the 0 to 60 is faster than 8 sec but prob where its at. Absolutely love this car. Loaded w sunroof heated seats and all the good stuff 2.5 thinking of doing a stereo swap so i can have blue tooth
