Interview with former New IFB preacher Bo Ballard - Evaluating Church Structure, Govt. and Doctrine

Bo Ballard was contacted by now defrocked New IFB "Bishop" Donny Romero about being the "boots on the ground" for a new church plant in Oklahoma City. This lasted until he ran afoul of the new bishop (Jonathan Shelley) and was removed and ostracized for some comments made in a chat room. Bo gives some background to the events, as well as revealing some of the inner workings, philosophies, and doctrinal quirks of the New IFB. Since leaving the movement, he has suffered attacks from multiple New IFB personalities, reviling him as a railer, liar, and a mentally ill psychopath whose preaching "sucks". Bo takes all this in stride and views his experience in the movement as a lesson from God, part of God's providence in leading him to be a better servant of Christ.

Another interesting note was the Jack Hyles connection, Bo at first thought the New IFB movement rejected the ministry of Jack Hyles, but came to find out that the movement was Hyles' "illegitimate son".

I just ran into some Steadfast members for the first time. I didn't know anything about them, but after my longer conversation with them, I left thinking, "They remind me alot of Steven Anderson." Makes sense now. Sad to see that church in the Fort Worth area.

It would be normal for a man to have a pastoral degree or graduate from a seminary and be serving as an assistant pastor prior to being examined by a panel of pastors for ordination

PS Yes, we were at a Bible Baptist Church and they always stated they were the only true church in our area. I was not allowed to teach anything to gals in the Bible, unless the Bible agreed with Bible Baptist Doctrine. The pastor basically stated his doctrines superseded the Bible. People who knew their Bibles were a threat to the two pastors and they were treated terribly and this included my husband and me as we had attended a Bible teaching college. Eventually, the pastor stated, Christ was not the head of his church, implying he was.
