You're forgetting religion was created many hundreds or thousands of years ago and because there was always some kind of god or prophet involved, they are going to be correct and absolute. Therefore they aren't going to change the word of god or the prophet or the messia or whoever.
That's the problem with old world religion.

The two things aren't the same. Religion addresses human nature and existential questions - science addresses different questions

Remaining unchanged is only a positive value if the initial position is correct. Retrenchment in a state of errancy does tremendous harm to both spirituality and quality of life.

It’s funny, religion likes to use the thread metaphor for how one lie begets another and another until what would’ve been easy for the individual to break free of becomes a binding entanglement. It’s exactly what religion does to itself by taking a fixed position and then layering on crappy apologetics to explain away conflicting evidence.

Scientists sure spend a lot more time worrying and fretting over religion. I’ve never heard anyone say “oh that science always changes and religion doesn’t!” 😂😂 Seriously. Let people be who they are and what they want to be or believe in. Scientists in Heaven will thank you.

There are gazillions of religions, all making different truth claims, and how can you determine which one, if any, is right? You can't! But there is only one science, regardless of the faith or ethnicity of the practitioner. And that, combined with cross-checking, doubt, and testability, is why science but not religion can home in on the truth.

Not only that but religion isn't even staying the same. Look at all the schisms, off-shoots, inquisitions, fatwahs, and more. Stuff like the bible has undoubtably had all sorts of alterations to it as well as additions (ex. new testament). People keep making new interpretatons of holy document text to this very day even despite their specific denomination of religion having the same name.

Science is stuck in a state of always becoming and never being. It doesn’t lead to true forms but only sets of ever changing hypotheses…it never IS. I’m about 2/3 the way through Plato’s Republic and it’s messing with my mind. Somebody set me straight.

False dichotomy. Science is the observation of the material world, and does not address necessarily the more existential questions.
