Sprinter No Start No Crank Issue Fixed. Bypass immobilizer with this little tool. The steering lock is an electric component which can break anywhere at any time and can leave you stranded. This is a unique issue that occurs on some fedex sprinter vans due drivers pulling on steering wheel and causing the pin in steering lock to wear out thus causing no start issue due to electric steering lock (ESL) communicating with electric ignition switch (EIS). This little device will allow you to fix the no start issue and thus allow your van to start.

I have removed steering lock pin and am using the emulator. Can I go like this from now 9n? I don't need or want the steering lock anyway. Thank you

You are partially correct. You are not bypassing the immobilizer you are bypassing the electronic steering lock. Mercedes has had this well know problem for years. The ESL system goes bad over time. By using the ESL bypass module you are keeping the steering lock in the open unlocked position forever. At the same the the ignition switch is also open and unlocked however your vehicle wont just start by turning the ignition with a screwdriver or an incorrect key. Your immobilizer system is still fully in tact and requires a programmed key to start the vehicle. So from the standpoint of Safety and theft your vehicle is still very secure because the immobilizer is still protecting you vehicle. All you have actually done is bypassed the electronic steering wheel lock. That is the noise you hear every time you put the key into the ignition. You are hearing the electronic solenoid unlocking. The second part of the starting process is the immobilizer system remains untouched and secure. The only noticeable difference to the end user of the vehicle is the steering wheel will always remain unlocked at all times. Like I said before this really is not a security risk because the immobilizer system is still active preventing someone with a un programmed key from starting the vehicle. I hope this helps people out by knowing the truth about this system. Mercedes has done a very poor job with their ESL system because they know the system fails with no warning. So this 40.00 bypass module is the true fix to their problem. And the end user will never have to worry again of the key not turning or the steering wheel not unlocking. Shame on Mercedes.

The reason the keyecu emulator does not work is simply due to the older software/firmware on them, they are not compatible with the USA Sprinter. Those work just fine on all the benz cars they fit though. Also, the newest link for the emulator is made by mk3 too, it is just an updated version with sound.

i have an 03 sprinter. SOMETIMES it does not start but is "dead" when key is turned all the way. but when that happens if i "jiggle" or turn the steering wheel then it will turn over and start. i need a genius to tell me if i disconnect steering lock will it fix this problem that happens just "now and then". or is there something else i could do. thanks very very much. when it first happened had to tow to mechanic (we were 550 miles from home). they replaced fuse panel under steering column. 1100 dollars. i don't think it fixed problem. thanks again very much

I noticed when you start the van the ignition doesn’t spring back like other cars. My van does the same. When I start it I have to turn it back a little to disengage the starter. I’m I doing it wrong? Should I just leave it ? Thanks
