Tesla (TSLA) Needs More than Robotaxi to Drive October Success

The robotaxi unveiling, earnings, and anticipated delivery growth are all on the line for Tesla (TSLA) in October. Gary Black, Managing Partner of the Future Fund, says the company needs to wow investors on all fronts for its stock to accelerate. The Waymo interventions do not include when their remote driver take over, which is much more like FSD interventions. So comparing Waymos numbers and Teslas numbers is like apple and oranges. What matters is what Tesla states at 10/10 regarding deployment and that they follow through with it.

Waymo is nothing compared to FSD. First of all, it is too expensive, and it is being intervened in control centers. Lastly, it can only run in a limited area. Let Waymo drive across everywhere in the country and see how many interventions it requires. It simply won’t work.

I would call the latest FSD 12.5.4 almost feature complete. It drives me around well in my little town in the pacific north west though Tesla was mostly trined for traffic in the Bay Area.

I don't think the market is there for a compact cheaper Tesla, it's called a 3 year old Tesla, there's not enough profit in it for them, the money is in the robotaxi, if they can pull off FSD, but they need enough training data to do this though which is going to take a while to build even if they sell the robotaxi as a compact car

We listen to him to discern what the Wall Street thinks.
That Gary doesn’t put any value at all on Robotaxi means to me that he doesn't think FSD will work well enough for it within a foreseeable future.
But maybe he just think that he's conservative, and has a different valuation strategy.

😮Gary Black is NOT a bull. He shows a lack of understanding of the difference between Tesla and Waymo. He is not worth having on. Very misleading, and certainly doesn't grasp the AI part of the business.

Most interventions are just preference. ‘I want to be in that lane’, ‘I prefer that car park’ etc. They’re not because of safety.

You don’t need to hold the wheel in FSD 12.5.
