Trick to simplifying SURDS

In todays video we are going to learn an easy way of simplify surds.
Surds are irrational roots of rational numbers. In other sense, square root values that cannot be written as whole numbers or intergers are called surds. Examples of surds are square root of 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 etc

I don't approve of teaching kids to memorize a rule like this. That turns math into a giant rule book. Explain why you can use the trick.

I think this condition is also necessary that you demonstrate from the formula in red at 4 min mark. We can denest root (a + b*root(c)) if and only if a^2 - (b^2)c is a square. As an example root (1-root(2)) cannot be denested in this way.
