Monitor Calibration using a Smart Phone

preview_player
Показать описание
Use an Android smart phone as a colorimeter to color calibrate a laptop display/PC monitor. 2 apps are needed: download the "Camera Colorimeter" app from Google Play onto your Android phone, and the "Display Calibration" from the Windows Store onto your laptop/PC. Your smart phone must support Android's Camera2 API, and must implement the manual exposure and manual white balance control specifications of the API. The free "Camera Colorimeter" app will notify if your phone is not compatible. Additionally both your phone and laptop/PC must be Bluetooth capable (most phones and laptops are, PCs may require an external Bluetooth dongle).

I calibrated the white point and the RGB with an iPad Pro M2 display which is all fine and dandy.. but when I place my phone up to the LCD, it shows like a red shadow at the top of the image and I think it's causing the color calibration to be wrong. Not sure how to fix that issue.

The app is free but the Microsoft Store program isn't and there is not way of testing it to see if it really works before paying :(

Seems like this software does not support wide gamut displays such as Dell U2410 and perhaps does not support HDR displays as well, profile i got generated with this software is showing different results in Photoshop than preview in the software itself, over saturated too much to the point it clipping the red color.
Also inside Display Calibration software preview after running calibration i have noticed color banding on in on the girl1.jpg image on the nose, this tells me this software is not made for Wide Gamut monitors same as calibration built in WIndows 10.

I bought the Windows 10 App ($2), I had an old Samsung Galaxy S6 laying around. I did the pre white RGB calibration for the smartphone camera taking the D65 (sun and paper) as reference and also an Ipad Pro 2020 to display the rgb point of reference. It's not as easy as plug and play from DataColor and X-Rite but it actually works. If you wanna display more accurate colors then its worth the shot. I read that a lot of phones don't seem to connect, maybe I was lucky but for as cheap as 2 bucks I do recommend it, just do your research beforehand people!

I tried it yesterday but I could't see any white circle to place the phone on! What could be the issue? I am on win 11.

I recalibrated my Samsung U28R55 4K monitor with my Samsung S23+. Everything works great, perfect bluetooth connection on Windows 11 and Android 13 in 2023! I just miss documentation of software options.

I just got the app from Microsoft store. I could connect my android phone to the pc software and it starts scanning but at the end it just shortly says "analysing...." and software crashes immediately. So I can not see the result nor save the profile. By the way, there is no link to your Facebook page to check for FAQs.

I had a problem with connecting the Motorola G8 power, but somehow it worked and I have to admit that it even works. For this price, I approve :D
