I'm sorry, but I learned long ago that having dark circles around the eyes has a side benefit of getting presumed sick and sent home just by showing up to work without makeup.

A chill went up my spine when Dr. Youn started talking about the upper lip lift. A former coworker, late 50s at the time, had decided to have one. She was very diligent about doing her homework: researched the procedure, read reviews, found an excellent plastic surgeon whom she felt she could trust, etc. Unfortunately, even top-notch professionals can't necessarily predict their patients' physical responses to surgery. The scar under her nose was initially very neat and thin, and looked like it would be almost invisible once fully healed... but then she developed a keloid, which continued to grow at an alarming rate. (Imagine, if you will, an irregularly shaped plum under your nose.) Keloids are unpredictable and can be difficult to remove, since they're produced by the body's response to surgery or damage. They can also grow back and become worse if they're removed.

It was an absolute nightmare for her. We eventually lost touch when I moved away from the area, but the poor woman had taken to wearing a surgical mask long before the advent of Covid-19.

I feel like a big issue with lip lift is also the position of scar. Being under nose and above the lip looks like place that can easily get infected, and imagine you get a cold right after surgery or you have allergies... doesn't sound good. It's not easy to keep that area clean and especially not to move it. And scar at that place would be super visible if anything goes wrong. So, not worth of risk imo.

My experience as a 75 yr person, after you have passed on people feel safe to remark how strange plastic surgery made their friend look. Many said she just wasn't the familiar face of their treasured friend. Taking care of your skin is important but having the grace to age should not be scary. It is just another stage in a human life.

Just got eye filler with Restyane done a couple months ago. A med spa recommended I do it (and was kind of pushy about it) but I was concerned about lumpiness, about it filling up over time, about it possibly traveling... I had a lot of concerns.

Then I talked in depth with my doctor who addressed all my questions. He explained why he thought I was a good candidate and he gave me time to do my own research. I'm so happy with the results. If you do anything like this, just make sure you work with a doctor you trust.

An acquaintance of mine had the gastric balloon and was posting about it on Facebook, she said it feels exactly like you would expect, that she could feel it moving around inside of her like a water balloon, it was like being low level seasick all the time. Her appetite got so low that she was malnourished and lost a noticeable amount of hair which is what finally got her to have it removed. Be very careful if you decide to get one

I got a gastric balloon… absolute waste of time and money. I was sick the entire time (nausea, diarrhea and vomiting every day) I had that balloon in, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE gastritis and reflux, poor nutrient absorption because the balloon irritates the lining of your stomach and gets in the way of proper digestion. Because I felt so sick for those six months I couldn’t eat anything or keep anything down, so I didn’t learn proper nutrition or portion control (which is the point of having the balloon). Everything made me sick, I had zero energy. I lost 50 lbs from essentially starving myself, but almost immediately gained it back after taking the balloon out. The support provided by the clinic I went to was terrible. The nutritionist was very insensitive and basically kept telling me to drink Diet Coke every morning to “rinse” the balloon so it would help me with my symptoms. Highly do not recommend. Just eat well, exercise. Don’t take short cuts.

I'm a keloider. When I had my total gastrectomy (stomach cancer) the scar was super chill for like a month or two but then started getting bigger and bigger and so itchy. I can't imagine doing something on my face now because all my scars get wild.

I think people need to keep in mind that cosmetic surgery is still surgery and there are risks. You don't often get to see the bad outcomes because bad outcomes don't sell procedures, but they still exist. I remember one woman who got lip filler injected into a vein by accident and her lip turned black and nearly rotted off. She had rush back to her doctor and was almost too late because, even though it was 1 day since her procedure, tissues die really quickly without blood. She thought the black color was just heavy bruising and almost didn't go. If she hadn't returned that day she would have lost part of her lip and they would've had to do major reconstruction on her face for her to look normal again.

I work for a plastic surgery, and can confirm - young folk seem to keloid/scar easily while older patients seem to recover from pretty decent flaps and grafts on the face with barely a line (also because our Drs are very skilled and experienced). I never realized it was to do with less robust collagen in older skin but it totally makes sense. A good side to getting older perhaps!

This is what cured me of wanting plastic surgery..a woman I knew who was 70 had 250k dollars worth of overall plastic surgery...she was in a lot of pain. When she healed she did look smoother but really she was the same person to me. She passed away 1 year after so she looked good in her casket..

I haven’t had cosmetic surgery, but I enjoy learning about it and the other subjects you discuss.
Thank you 🙏🏻

My mom had the gastric balloon and she lost a lot of weight because it dislodged and blocked her intestines for as she claimed 2 months.... so she was basically bulimic due to the amount of puking she was doing

I had the balloon procedure done. It's made me so sick, I passed out at the hospital I was working at. I was taking to the ER, I had a UTI, and pancreatitis. I stayed in the hospital for 5 days. It took me about a year to completely recover .

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don’t. And believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy, just that it would be worth it

Growing old is a definite in life, taking care of yourself so you can, is a must . I feel good and think I look excellent for mid 40s and being a grandmama .Working on my mental, and THEN my physical when I was a teen, helped me accept the things of my body that I can't change, but I work on those that I can

I get scared of not looking like me. After lip filler it was freaking me out already. It was subtle but enough to notice a different look and it’s weird. That’s why the permanent procedures scare me.

I'm darker skinned so my skin, one would assume is prone to keloiding. I was also 32 when I had mine performed. Dr. Mascaro performed my lip lift 4ish years ago and it's impeccable. The scar is virtually unnoticeable. I had a overwhelmingly positive experience and it took years off of my face, but I understand that may not be the same for everyone.

I am a dentist and definitely not qualified to recommend anything. I have seen the horror of fast weight loss and what it does to the excess skin all over the body which has nowhere to go. I am 45 and I have had two back to back caesarean. The only was I am loosing my body weight is by doing running, jogging, yoga etc etc. it's taking months and months and months to gradually loose weight. But my muscles are slowly getting toned, my skin is getting tighter and my endurance is increasing. Sometimes it can be a boon not to have money 🤣.
