The cost of private jet maintenance is going through the roof and my Rolls dealer wants $1200 for fluid changes. These tax cuts are badly needed.

I don't think she is understanding this fully.

1. Clinton lowered taxes in his 2nd term. It resulted in far higher economic growth at 4.5% instead of 3% in his first term. (Clinton also deregulated a lot both terms)
2. She claims that 'tax reform' is what makes the economy boom instead of tax cuts. What she doesn't mention is that Reagan's 'tax reform' were literally just tax cuts.

Lower taxes generally produce a better economy.

Is she an economist? She looks and sounds like she's doing the weather. I'd like to hear this debated between her and other economists.

The economy grew bigger for Clinton because of the trade deals

She mentions raising taxes to reduce the deficit as if that's the only way to do it. You could also reduce government spending to reduce the deficit. We never hear of any talk on, from the Republican party and especially the democratic party.

Terrible video. Very little explanation on what should be a much longer and nuanced discussion.

You could tell she had no idea what she's talking about.

Well, they are right. Reagan times were great for the economy, but Reagan didn't spend as much as Bush did. If you cut taxes, cut to eliminate other things. Many departments need to be closed, many programs like welfare and Medicaid.

It is irresponsible for CNN to broadcast such a simplistic, dumbed-down explanation of a system as complex as the US economy.

They only look at how well wallstreet does, not how the every day american does, and if the economy was based not on stocks and business success, but how well people were living, we'd be considered one of the worst economic 1st world countries around.

She didnt explain jack

This is a 3 year old video but listen to all the economists posting their comments. You act like you know Government but you don't. There wasn't going to be a detailed explanation in a 1:51 minute video. If you could learn the economy in a 1:51 minute video, we wouldn't need years of school to learn math.

If you want to spur economic growth via consumer spending, implement a BASIC INCOME. DUH. The poor desperately need things to survive, and will spend the money on essential goods, which goes to businesses as sales and profits, which keeps people employed or hiring more, because of the sudden increase in demand for goods and services.
Or, you can keep dumping it on the military industrial complex, who pocket it or pass the windfalls on to rich investors, by selling billion dollar jets and tanks that are never used for nothing useful...

Cutting taxes increases the deficit. It's not that hard to understand. To reduce the deficit you should raise taxes, decrease spending, and increase immigration.

If you honestly read academic studies about taxation, the general consensus is that tax increases lower a nation's real GDP. Certain taxes hikes hurt more or less. The Corporate Income tax is found to be generally the worst tax you could raise. If you want to raise taxes, fine. Could you make the argument of why it is justified? Do not simply pretend you can raise taxes without consequences.
