I'm a cis woman and my gender affirming care (androgen blockers) was both covered by insurance and prescribed as a routine treatment by an endocrinologist. I'm also lacking a uterus, fallopian tubes, and a cervix (hysterectomy). No one has ever questioned my gender, even though biologically I do not meet TERF standards of womanhood, because I perform femininity to their exacting standards.

This situation surrounding Imane Khelif should sound warning bells for everyone. That circle of "acceptable womanhood" is only going to get smaller and smaller.

When I see these people discuss what a woman needs to be, I'm perpetually reminded of my failed attempts to make my father proud of me.

He criticized my grades, so I studied my ass off, but his only response was that my grades still weren't good enough, and that a "real man" needed to be smarter.

He criticized my lack of athleticism, so I took up a sport, but even when I won awards, he said that a "real man" needed to be stronger.

He criticized my body, so I worked out, starved myself, hurt myself, but he said a "Real man" needed to be more handsome.

It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized he just hated me, and all this "real man" stuff was just him finding a socially acceptable way to express it. And that's all I ever see with these people. They hate women, especially non-white women, and just want an excuse.

I'm a biological female but I have PCOS. PCOS is a hormone imbalance that affects about one in 10 women. This condition is associated with increased levels of two hormones in the body – insulin and androgens (male-type hormones) – that cause symptoms such as absent or irregular periods, excessive facial and body hair, pimples, weight gain and challenges with fertility. Despite being a biological female I'm terrified of these transvestigators who claim they're helping women by keeping men out of female spaces but in reality all they're doing is just hurting women by claiming they're men because in there opinion they don't look like how a female should look...

No, "sex tests" aren't new-- and yes, they have *always* been used to punish anyone who steps out of line, and especially _women_ who step out of line.
