He was in the ring they just couldn’t* see him

People forget how insanely over Cena was leading up to his first US Title win. He’d sometimes get louder pops than the people working in the main events. The crowd would always pop because they knew they were going to be able to join in on Cena’s promo and be able to roast the heel lol.

To be fair a lot of talent connects with the crowd and WWE still makes them jobbers

Idk why I picture guys like Bob Holly, JBL, Benoit gossiping that he didn't care.

The funniest moment was when Roman Reign got flustered going back and forth with John and then got pissed when John said "No no keep going you gotta learn how to cut a promo sooner or later" LOL

Usually the hated ones are the ones who stand out differently because they are not followers. They are the innovators and the game changers.

I bet they're kicking themselves now. John seems to have found the formular that sent him to Hogan/Austin/Rock level superstardom

This is why he stood out, the most charismatic in the ruthless aggression era

Honestly reminds me of when Enzo talked about having books full of promos he had written and some boring ass guys like Simom Gotch made fun of it because he had to write out his stuff beforehand instead of improvising it all. There's a reason this guy is more entertaining than you. He spent his time building a great character instead of just being "around the ring".

John understood what failure was at the time, through his journey leading up to WWE. He literally had nothing else outside of the company, so he put literally everything he had into the business. It's like he saw this opportunity as his last shot at something, dude went all the way with it.

"You Can't See Me"
Is his best line ever. Conveys mystique. An underdog. Hidden qualities. Showing that the other is lacking. Unable to face what's right in front of him. Ignorant.

People are going to dislike you no matter what you do. Little do they know that you’re doing the right thing. Keep doing you and block them out. Because you were doing your thing, you’ve become one of the biggest and most controversial superstars in the history of the company. Future hall of famer without a doubt.

Missed when Cena had military cut. But it shows he’s drifting into other fields in life
