Demo D-Lab ST-7 Tube Home stereo amplifier, modeled after Dynaco ST-70 Evolving Project low power

So, this question has been on my mind for years, can the Dynaco ST-70 driver board be utilized for other output tubes. The answer is Yes! Had to make a few minor changes, but she charged out the gate playing, sounding superb! Take a listen to the demo. The 6005W tubes really have nice dynamics and best of all they are inexpensive. As you know, the Dynacos and others are commanding high prices these days and require upkeep. But on the other hand people are not listening at high volumes. They want lower cost/higher reliability and smaller amps for their apartments or office. This design fits that need. Great sound at low volume. Perfect for running a turntable with. I am updating the schematic as the project grows. Note: If you wanted higher power, say 12 watts per channel, this amp can be updated to 6V6 tubes. The power transformer has well enough current to support them. Down side is you would have to install larger output transformers and of course foot the bill for 4- 6V6 tubes! I am planning to update the output transformers to Hammond 1608's. Hopefully achieve better dynamics. When complete, I will generate a follow up video.

Take care of yourself, Terry. The great thing about your channel is being able to re-watch the already-outstanding content if you're unable to produce videos as frequently.

6GH8A is what I put in my Seeburg Jukebox. It was supposed to have 7199, but I got an adapter from CE Dist to make the switch. Best wishes on managing your health issues.

Nice work! Your design doesn't overload the rectifier, like the original. I kept a voice of music that uses 6aq5s, sold the 6bq5 version. Good music too.

Good job Terry! I too had knee issues, arthritis was mentioned also by doctors. I found I had low testosterone, my muscles had relaxed and or shrunk to allow my knee bones to have little or no cushioning. My knees and hips are doing just fine these days at the age of 66. Good work shoes or boots, rubber mat under where you stand and a stool for when don’t need to stand was advise from a sports doctor until I was properly diagnosed years later. Painful Swollen knees were part of it from time to time. Just thought id pass it along!

Sorry to hear brother. I’m looking at an old 59’ Magnavox Continental Stereo. Can’t seem to find a schematic though. Big 2 x 15” P232 and horns.
I hope you get to feeling better. It’s been a hard winter. Damn bodies. I’ve been suffering with MS since my teens but doctors couldn’t
(or wouldn’t) ….definitely didn’t figure it out till a coupling years ago. Have faith in oneself.
Cool project you made there.
