Speaking as a Sonic fan AND a physics major:

Chemical Plant: These are robots, not animals. The tensile strength of the rope holding Sonic up could easily be enough to carry him.


Casino Night: Not all laws are effectively enforced, especially if an institution has no incentive to enforce them. The real question is how that casino runs a profit after giving out prizes so easily.


Hilltop: It's never specified how flammable the grass is, but usually it takes pretty dry grass to spread fires. Wet grass would if anything impede fire's progress, unless the fire was consistently hot enough to both dry the grass AND extract more energy from the grass than was consumed to dry it.


Oil Ocean: It wouldn't be an explosion, it would be a sustained fire. Just ask Kuwait.


Metropolis: Maybe the steam pipes are designed to respond to added weight by applying more pressure? The real question is what waste gases are best dealt with by periodically-applied pressure release valves in the first place.


Death Egg: Security doors can glitch. Robotnik wanted to be extra sure Sonic was dealt with.
