the reason that shows like King of the Hill and South Park work while these don't is because the creators/writers for those shows are willing to challenge the protagonist's beliefs to see if they hold water instead of just making the entire world one big strawman for the them to knock over

I have to say, "The New Norm, " is an excellent name for tv show with this kind of plot. But, that title kind of implies that he should be learning and changing, slowly starting to understand the modern day instead of just hating on it.
