I do honestly think that Carragher was one of the most underrated footballer ever. His discipline, no-nonsense defending, has saved Liverpool on so many occasions. He made quite a lot own goals, but that's because he tried to put his leg in front of the ball so much more than others.

If you're banging out an entire career in Liverpools back 4 without being replaced by a big signing, (Which is only money and a phone call) and you're making regular starts for England, I'd call that a solid football career and not to be sniffed at by anyone. Liverpool could have just as easily got rid of him if he wasn't up to standard and as Neville would say, you need the Carrers in the team who turn up season after season, rarely insured, never cause any off pitch dramas, never causes dramas in the dressing room etc.

In my conclusion Carra is underrated, but not the most underrated player.
