The Smart Orbiter 3 extruder is designed by my friend Robert Lorincz. We both live in Romania and he is passionate about optimizing 3D printer hardware. He's been developing extruders and other 3D printer upgrades over the past years.

Designed by Robert Lorincz

This extruder is equipped with a USB toolboard on top of the already smart design with a runout sensor and is Klipper compatible.

Love it! Compact integrated extruder combos are great for most use cases and including a wired up toolheadboard and a filament sensor already is a godsend

I do this all the time🤣"im going to look in side"... "yep one screw is far enough, let's put that back so i don't mess it up"

Damn, these Romanians do be crafty.

On another note, could you ask Robert if he's gonna do a revision on his benchmarking of compact extruders ? Would be interesting to see the progress made in two years

I'm hyped up! Would be cool to have very compact toolhead with this extruder. Those drive gears looks bigger that OG orbiter

I thought it was huge until you put it against your extruder as comparison. That looks awesome. LDO right?

I'm a little concerned about the proximity of the heating element to the board but otherwise the design looks really elegant.

I’ve heard of the orbiter design for tool changers from the 3D Printing Today podcast and they love them minus a couple of issues. Is this a hint at the tool changer progression?

Looks cool .. but the way you took the hotend out I'm not sure it's good .. looks like it could fall off if you get a clog wich could make a lot of damage I think

I have an orbiter with sensor and love it. Unfortunately unless this gets a uhf I won't move to this.

Such a short heatbreak. Have any numbers on flow rate? I can't imagine it's too high with that.

We need numbers! Weights! Anything that can fit in a spreadsheet! Looks way cool btw

Looks good. no bed leveling sensor built in I guess?

There are two thermistors on this hotend. One on the heating element. The other in the smart orbiter. What's the use of the one inside the smart orbiter?

Almost thought that was one of those tiny scale motors!
