Mountain Climbers Exercise For Beginners (With Progression) | Cardio & Core!

In this video I explain the mountain climbers exercise for beginners. I know this exercise can be tough if you're new to bodyweight fitness, so I teach it using progression. We start off with a straight-arm plank and work our way through several progressions until your'e doing legit mountain climbers.

In my opinion, mountain climbers are one of the best calisthenics cardio exercises and I put them right up there with burpees. In fact, I show in this video how you can combine mountain climbers with burpees, high knees and other cardio calisthenics to make them more fun and effective.

If you're wondering how to do mountain climbers the right way, look no further than this video. I hope you find it helpful. And if you do, don't forget to like, share and subscribe! :)

This is by far the most detailed instruction I've ever watched. 😆Appreciate!

The best part of this exercise is that, unlike jumping rope, it does not bother my downstairs neighbors.

Just looked at 5 or so, other videos, you are the only one who showed progression most necessary for an older beginner

I dont know much about fitness but in my late teens I used this exercise to lose 40 pounds losing tones of body fat and gaining muscle in my legs arms and core! Also great for bringing up your heart rate if done at a fast pace

One of my workout routines includes Mountain Climbers and this progression is actually what I started doing instinctively, because I couldn't do them so fast in the beginning. I start with smaller and slower movement and doing plank lots of times, then eventually by the end of the workout my body starts getting used to it and by the last repetitions I am able to do the movement faster :) Cool video, thanks.

Hey, thank you for this. I've got a weak lower back that's in fairly good condition due to daily stretches and inner core exercises given to me by physical therapists, but I'm always looking to improve and add to my move set. So, starting today, I've added this in, working with Step 1.

Thanks for this very clear explanation of how to do this exercise. I particularly like the stages you describe. I’m an older guy not very active the last couple of years so I can use this approach to safely add this exercise. Great video.

This is a great video. I was wondering if it is best to do them slow or fast but your video answered questions I didn't know I had. Thank you

I appreciate breaking the exercise down into progressions, makes it seem more obtainable. I had a trainer that made me do these and I sucked at them; I bet it will go better if I follow your progression suggestions.
