As someone who works in cybersecurity - the front door thing terrifies me. Say no to smart locks! You are not the only person who can open *your* door with *their* phone.

Okay, the bath one is so freaking cool. The first time I ever recall seeing that was actually a few weeks ago in Gimai Seikatsu episode 1, and I thought it was some kind of sci-fi stuff they had thrown in just for fun, but to find out it's actually real? Damn, now I want to move to Japan just to have a bathtub that auto-fills for me

that’s so cool! I like how convenient everything is :) it’s honestly my dream to move to Japan (idk for how long lol) and even the smaller apartments seem pretty nice 💚🫰🏼

The Rinnai jingle is my happy song for when its time to relax away a long day.

Unlocking your door with your phone sounds incredibly cumbersome to me. It’s probably much more convenient and faster to use traditional key or type in code.

The auto shutoff gas burner is something I've always wanted. It's extra annoying because the oven on the same gas range has it but they didn't make it for the stovetop because westerners think knobs are highend 😠!!!

That front door is a security breach waiting to happen!!! Everything else is a yes, but the door is the stuff of nightmares the stuff of an oshi no ko plotline.

One thing I always thought was really clever when I was living in Japan was the little sink above the toilet so you can wash your hands with the clean water before it flushes! Such a great was of saving water

The singing timer is as japanese as it gets.

That's pretty neat, I must say. Nice quality-of-life improvements, though I hope it can also work manually and not solely through automation.

I once spent the weekend at a hotel where the locks would literally yell out “ドアが開きました” & “ドアが閉まりました” EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. and from that point on I told myself that I would only consider smart locks from the US. Last thing I want is my lock telling my neighbors “oh look who is coming home at 3am”

Why is all this so cool? Hoping I can get stationed in Japan so I can experience all this!

Yeh I'm not a fan of some things going digital. I'll take a regular key.
My local waterpark got rid of their season pass cards and now you have to show your qr code on your phone. I hate that because I dont want to bring my phone to a waterpark.

You live in a fancy house. 99% of houses in Japan don’t have these

Ah, that Zojirushi rice cooker is very musical as well. It’s also one of the best rice cookers.

I lucked out finding one at Badwon’t for $13 USD and feel like a bandit king it was such a steal.

Is this standard at all Japanese homes of the middle class and up?
