Here are some of my thoughts on how I would rewrite Book 2 of The Legend of Korra. It should be noted that this rewrite's core demographic is myself, so chances are you may have viewed the show differently. If that is the case, let me know what changes to The Legend of Korra you would have liked to see (if any).

Hey! After a bit of a wait, here is my take on how I would rewrite Book 2 of The Legend of Korra. It took a little longer to make because a) it ended up being much longer than I first expected and b) we ended up going a much different direction in terms of visuals. Chadunda did all of the animations you see throughout this, so consider checking out his channel and giving him a lotta love.

Thank you all for the support, and I hope you enjoy it!

What is this? Amon having actual lasting consequences? The show actually getting to visit the Fire Nation and show us what it's like in the aftermath of the hundred year war? Bolin having actual motivation for doing the movers? Unalaq actually having motivation for being a bad guy? Vaatu not fusing with Unalaq? Heck yes!

"hmmm maybe its too dark"
*proceeds in showing koh with sokka's face*
lol you got no chill

One thing you didn't mention is that this gives Lin an arc over the season, having lost her bending. Maybe Bolin tries to learn metal bending from her but one problem is her trying to teach, without being able to use her bending. It would also effect her position at work

"Raava and Vaatu aren't... rugs" made me immediately imagine Wan and Raava singing "A Whole New World"

I'm only 5 minutes in but I'm blown away at how you connected Wan's story, Korra's story, and the Northern Tribe plotline, with Wan appearing as a dream and inspiring her to go North, establish a connection with Yue and get her bending back.
Like that seriously makes so much more sense than what we got it's actually kind of baffling.

I am not a Korra hater, but I like this a lot better than what we got.

That was an exceedingly respectful intro, wow

Imagine Korra having guidance from her past lives in seasons 3 and 4. Imagine her facing Zaheer and in a moment of distress, she channels Aang like he channeled Roku. We could've had a conversation between them about the new air nation, maybe even a moment between Aang and Bumi and Tenzin.

We never got to see Korra learn bending besides airbending. Watching her regain bending by visiting each nation and learning their true origins would have been awesome.

Dude, I don't even dislike Book 2 as a whole, but this was an incredible improvement. This is such a thought-provoking and insightful way to provide constructive input, and you totally nailed it here. You connected plot threads that needed to be connected, strengthened existing ones, and created new and exciting ones that I would have loved to see. The idea of Korra regaining her bending in that way got me fucking giddy. I think you just wrote the best season, not gonna lie. No disrespect to Korra; I still love the show. I just loved your take on Book 2 that much.

Glorified fan-fiction or not, this is the first time I've heard about Korra from another perspective and genuinely rooted for that perspective, rather than just understanding and appreciating it. This video kicks ass!

I feel having Koh steal Sokka's face would not sit well with a lot of fans, and he's too much of an important character to just be killed off by Koh, but I feel a more secondary character, like the cabbage guy, would be a better fit, as he's not important but it would be a nice throwback.

damn, I've always been a Korra apologist. Like I recognize all the really glaring flaws of the series but I still really enjoyed LoK. BUT DAMN, this video was full of straight 24k GOLD, this would have been so much better

This was really interesting! It's fascinating to see how you and I would rewrite it differently. You are a lot more generous, but this was really great. Your editing is 10000% better than mine, I love how you rewrote Korra's spiritual growth to be more realistic, and I can tell you put a hell of a lot of work in. In particular, you seem to focus a lot more on the Beginnings story-thread, while I would focus more on the Civil War story-thread.

“A summer home in the northern water tribe” killed me because it seems so in-character for Varrick 💀

Instead of Sokka's face Koh steals, maybe it can be Suki's. Because then we actually know what the heck happened to her, why Sokka didn't marry her, and why we don't see much of Sokka.

Also this is 15, 0000 times better then the actual Korra book.

I feel like this is what the writers would have more than likely done had they had known they were going to get more seasons after book 1. Book 1 was originally going to be a stand alone series with a complete story but it was such a hit, Nickelodeon commissioned another season. It wasn’t until later that seasons 3 and 4 were picked up. Had the creators known the full extent of what they had to work with, the story would have been extended more and felt more fluid and transitional between books. At least with seasons 3 and 4, they could extend the story a bit cause they knew they had two more seasons to work with. Damn Nickelodeon fucking things up with the unknown. I wish they had just said you have four seasons, give us a masterpiece - and Korra would have been even better than it is. I still love Korra and am happy that the avatar series has seven seasons of pure fun, an incredible concept and story, and is something no one will ever forget.

I do like most of this, but I prefer Varrik trying to start a civil war to profit from it, than just shady real estate. The cool thing about Varrik was how he could go from quirky and eccentric, to scheming and maniacal in an instant. Like when he's reminding Mako that "things" could happen to Bo Lin and Asami, while also sounding weirdly cheery about it

Almost perfect.

Last adjustment: change the art design for the spirits to something more like the original Avatar.

Love it! Also just to add, the whole Eska and Desna taking down Unalaq thing could be related to the whole Jinora and Tenzin arc. This idea that kids are supposed to be better than their parents, having being guided by them and that this isn't a bad thing. Desna and Eska are better than Unalaq in this case
