This movie could be 5 hours long and I still wouldn’t mind

This scene shouldn't have been deleted from the movie..It's really thrilling and give exact idea why Quintos didn't obey Commodos last order..

Jaoquin Phoenix did a great job making us hate him...Good actor.

Joaquin is about 25 years old in this film, but I wonder how many actors in their mid-twenties can play this role perfectly in Hollywood today.

How in the world this movie didn’t win every single oscar is beyond me. This in my opinion is the greatest film ever made. The story, acting, setting, everything was just perfect

Thanks, I think this scene gives much more insight in why Quintus wouldn't help Commodus in the final fight. It was never really clear in the final cut imho.

A General is always in Control... In Command....Isen't he? Seeing this scene explains why Quintus Told His men to "Sheath" Their swords when the Emperor called for a sword in his fight with Maximus...His words came back to haunt him.

I noticed the condemned soldiers marched in step with the guards as they approached their place of execution. Even as they were being marched to their deaths by order of the same man they swore to serve, they continued to maintain the decorum of nothing but loyal Roman soldiers. It's a nice touch to the scene.

Such an important scene. This should have been kept in the movie. It added so much context to the final battle sequence.

One of the better deleted scenes I've ever witnessed. Just shows you how good Ridley really is.

That actor Joaquin Phoenix is incredibly gifted. I've seen lots of movies with him. Wonder how he still doesn't have an Oscar

Joaquin Phoenix is such a great actor.

It's a great scene because it shows how crazy Commodus actually is by walking in front of the archers as they hold their bows.

It's a shame they had to cut so many of Joaquin's scenes.

The guy to the right of the emperor at 2:31 has never held a bow in his life, or an arrow for that matter

That incredibly small hint of a smile at the end in his expression...it's those micro-expressions that really made his character so nuanced. Fantastic!

3:06 Commodus felt pleasure from the execution, but he had to come to the reality quickly because he was surrounded by his men. Wonderful acting by Jaoquin!

Hans Zimmer really complimented this scene perfectly as well as the whole film. This movie is amazing!

" You wrote to me once, listing the four chief virtues: Wisdom, justice, fortitude and temperance. As I read the list, I knew I had none of them. But I have other virtues, father. Ambition. That can be a virtue when it drives us to excel. Resourcefulness, courage, perhaps not on the battlefield, but... there are many forms of courage. Devotion, to my family and to you. But none of my virtues were on your list. Even then it was as if you didn't want me for your son!"

- Commodus (My favorite Quote)
