I’m watching the movie again for 15th time in a much spiritual context. Just saw this scene. The singer Lisa Gerrard claims to sing a language she made up. She sings from the heart and connects with God. It’s like speaking in tongues with her music. Fascinating.

Jesus was over a century older than Marcus Aurelius so the scene is inaccurate due to the ignorance of the director I guess if his intention was to depict Jesus here.

Okay, This Guy is actually a Christian preacher, the cross didnt exist at the time but the Christian fish symbol on his clothes was common for Christian at the time, the first christians were known to preach the gospels to Slaves, like St Patrick did for Irish Slaves at the 4th century

Interesting bit of symbolism I hadn’t noticed before but historically it would be inaccurate. This scene would have been set after the death of Marcus Aurelius in 180 AD - or about 150 years after the death of Jesus of Nazareth. Plus, Jesus would have looked more like a Palestinian than the man depicted here.

Yes that’s definitely Jesus Christ the fish symbol is a dead giveaway! Also Antonio Banderas appears in the movie gladiator as an Extra. Can anyone help me find Antonio Banderas for me?? It’s been a game of wears Waldo for me for many years.

Apparently gladiator 2. The plot was the Roman gods were losing power because the people no longer believe and a guy called Jesus was causing a ruckus. They tasked maximus to kill him. He then finds out that the woman he hooked up with was Mary and Jesus was his son. But Russell said, ‘no, thanks’
