What if format first but it will delete the files then next is to use the stellar software? is this works?

I used the chkdsk /f e: its been 2.81 days and it just started stage 2 the ETA IS 143 hours and for stage 1 it always says file record segment is unreadable and stage 2 it says deleting orphan file record segment. Is this normal
