Using french cleats, I created a wall easel to hang my drawings / paintings off, saving so much room in my studio as I was able to get rid of my desk!

This looks like a great idea. I might get a large piece of finished plywood and screw the cleats onto that, then screw the plywood to the wall. If I wanted to move it, just unscrew the plywood from the wall.

I really like your set up expecially this cleat board. You definitely made the right decision to paint it darker. It looks black on more recent videos, but perhaps, it's a dark brown... Anyway, it's definitely better and gives the colours you work with more definition, with a more acurate view of the true colours... the white background seemed to make everything look drab, which it wasn't.... obviously, you being as professional as you are, it didn't have a negative impact on your work, but I would have struggled with it... so it's a good tip for mine. WHEN I manage to build one... "If", is more accurate than when really with me! 🤦‍♀️😂 fantastic work, by the way. 👏👏👏😍

I really want to build an easel like this for my limited studio space. Please, please provide more detail as to how you made this.

Instead of a bevel on the top and a square on the bottom of the cleat, try this:
Bevel the bottom and top of the cleat rails the same, like a parallelogram, and similarly bevel the top and bottom of the male block that attaches to the canvas. If you do that, you can put the cleat rails closer together.
Also, white is an absolutely awful choice for art studio walls. It'll create a glare on your canvas from reflected light, and it can also fool your perception of tones and colors, making it more difficult to get an accurate painting. I recommend painting all of your studio walls with a matte/flat mid-tone neutral gray, your ceiling flat black, and wearing dark clothing when you paint, but you do you.

So how do you attach the canvas or paper you draw on? Are you just taping it to a board that already has the french cleat?

Thats a french cleat wall... not an easel
