Life in an Off -Grid Cabin

For most of the last 20 years Ive lived in cabins in Alaska. Living in a remote off-grid cabin is a quiet simple way to spend your time.
Ive spent my summers at this log cabin in interior Alaska since 2015. In this video I keep the camera rolling during a typical day in early fall (2019). I get up, make a fire in the wood stove. Cook breakfast on our propane range, and get the dishes washed up using rain water I collect off of a shed roof.
I also, pick some berries and split up the evenings firewood. A little exercise with an axe and a chainsaw always makes you sleep better. Finally i fire up the coleman lantern and turn on the radio as the sun goes down. A nice way to spend a day.

This video makes me miss my husband so much. We lived our dream in a cabin in NC before he died. He used to play guitar too, and we would sing together tucked away in our own little world. It was pure bliss. That time was too short.
Cherish every moment together. ♡

"A few acres of timber and a good solid wood stove, that's like a 401k" Damn.... that hit so hard.

This is my 'go to' video when I want peace of mind and to gather my thoughts. I wish my husband would want to live like this -- I sure wouldn't mind giving it a whirl. What a wonderful life. I live in the city, but the city has never been in me. God bless you.

You're like the Bob Ross of living off-grid. The music and your voice are so relaxing.

I'm 62yo and raised on a dairy farm with a single wood stove in living room for warmth and a LP stove in the kitchen.
Man this takes me back to my childhood
Thank you

I don't know why I watch these videos. I don't even want to go camping for even one night. But it is just so peaceful and enjoyable to watch someone else do these things.

I retired 9 months ago. Initially, I got bored and went back to work for about a month (different job)... then quit and got a dog. Now I'm content doing very little but exercising with the pup and chillin' in the recliner.

Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the awesomeness of Bushradical’s wood chopping and splitting skills.

My dad had us living like this when I was little..he was a brilliant man and though I hated it when I was a kid because we were different..I love him all the more for it now if that makes any sense..He struggled with so many demons and Alcohol was the main one but this way of life kept him in line and I understand that now!

The fact that you gave thanks before eating says a lot. Gratitude for what we have been blessed with is so important. God bless.

I tell my 11 yr, old grandson that if I can ever win the lottery that I'm going to buy a piece of land so far out in the woods that no one can find me, he just looks at me and says pappy you are not running away with out me.

I can't begin to tell you what solace I've found in these videos through the craziness of the pandemic. I suddenly found myself nursing in a Covid field hospital here in Europe and for a while at the beginning I was worried I'd never make it home. I'd go back to the staff accommodation and watch these and immerse myself in another life. Your narration is a joy, your voice has the most reassuring quality and the content you make is just beautiful. I'd put these videos on for my patients who were interested in the outdoors and I honestly credit you with the turnabout we saw in one particular patient who was truly on death's door for a while but ultimately walked out of that hospital under his own steam. Thank you for what you do, for sharing your extraordinary life, being so encouraging and helping us to see how achieving something like this is possible. I can't wait to have something similar one day, perhaps somewhere here in France or perhaps in the far north of Scotland like I've dreamed.
