The California Highway Patrol on Tuesday announced it will deploy officers in Oakland to help fight crime, partnering with Oakland police to combat an increase in criminal activity – though some community activists say in the past, this move hasn't worked.

Let’s not forget that the CHP was deployed in Vallejo/Richmond in the 1990s to assist with crime reduction efforts. Their work was for about a year or so if memory serves, and had good results.

Hopefully this will impact Oakland in a positive manner.

Oakland cannot afford to pay for more law enforcement because of all the Tax breaks and corporate welfare given to developers and Tech startups and Gentrification businesses that they call "opportunity zones"AKA dress shops, Trendy bakeries 5 dollar a cup coffee shops etc.They also can't find recruits because the city cut legacy costs like retirement and Healthcare.
