#biography #history #worldwar2
For over two years, Frank and her family hid in a makeshift room behind a bookcase in an Amsterdam building where her father worked. The entire time there, until she was captured by the Nazis, Anne would write her thoughts and dreams into her diary, while the world outside her hidden walls went to hell.

After the Second World War ended, a few helpful hands saw to it that Anne’s diary was made available to the world. It has since been a brutal reminder of what humanity can be capable of at its worst, and what humanity is at its best. Here is a single brave girl’s story of survival and fear in one of the darkest chapters in history.

I can only imagine what Anne would've written about her experiences after leaving the attic. Its nice to know Anne got the last laugh.

The rare footage of Anne Frank in the documentary "Europa: The Last Battle" is heartbreaking. A must see.

Anne and the others didn’t deserve what happened to them. The inhumanity of it

It's a goddamn shame people are actually trying to ban it from schools. Honestly, if kids like Anne were old enough to experience it, kids growing up today are old enough to read about it. That's my thought, anyway.

I have to think that diary was less about finding certain people insufferable and more about keeping her sanity in a situation that was contrary to her extroverted nature. She would have been an amazing best selling writer had she been allowed to live to do more than just her diary

I remember seeing the actual diary. I had this powerful feeling. RIP Anne.

Holy crap, I didn't know Simon's already left the channel. Seeing the new host was quite a shocker.

All the same, I love what you've done here. Both respect you have for Anne Frank and your affable personality are welcome indeed.

A powerful tail. I grow sick of these sick people that try to deny what happened and push a hateful ideology about the Jewish people even today because they happen to be a successful and integrated people group within a lot of western nations. I also despise young people who shout politically authoritarian slogans about cultures they know nothing about and then think its alright to indulge in antisemitism. I am not a Jewish person, I am British but I will forever be an ally of the Jewish people, regardless what lies are spread about them by ignorant people with no historical understanding.

I don’t blame Anne for that. Margot was the perfect older sister and I don’t think her annoyance with her mom was uncommon for a teen but I think what made it worse was the suffocating environment she had to deal with

I remember when we had to read this book. One tragic account similar to thousands of others. 😢

Very glad to see Jade. It made the topic a little less dark. God help us all as this old lady sees it beginning again.
