OT Rex Case Study with Models and Theories

Hi everyone. This is a video that I had posted a while back. I had an error with the EHP model in it so it was quickly taken down. I finally got around to revising it and adding some new pictures.

I remember studying models and thinking WOW, they all sound the same. But it's so much easier to apply if you can think of of of your clinical observations/fieldwork experiences.I get comments frequently about models and theories and all the confusion in between. I thought it would be helpful to share a case study of a 4 year old boy that I currently see and think about what frame of references and theories I am pulling from during treatment time. Please remember that this video's purpose is for you to conceptualize how all these models/theories/FORs apply to an intervention/treatment session. This video isn't about specifying if I'm using a certain "X model/theory/FOR" as a model or frame of reference, etc. as that is very dependent on the therapist. I want you guys to have a general understanding of all of these so you can think "Oh! This patient would benefit from SI or motor learning". :)

This is awesome, thank you! In OT school, my thinking was black and white, as in picking one model or FOR and not straying from that. However, it makes more sense to combine them in order to make it as client-centered as possible.

Hey OT Rex! Would you mind doing a video about documentation? i.e., soap notes, progress notes, discharge, etc? It would be a really helpful refresher! Thanks!

Hearing all of the different methods in one session is inspiring! I’m currently thinking about working in pediatrics/home health—it seems like an interesting offer.
