Alan Rickman reflects on 10 years of Harry Potter

Alan Rickman visited us recently to talk about his new film A Little Chaos with Reel Pieces moderator Annette Insdorf. He reflected on his 10 years playing Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series, and spoke about why he isn't surprised Emma Watson is giving feminist speeches at the United Nations and what he misses most about Hogwarts.

I was fortunate enough to attend this talk. He was an amazing actor, and by all accounts a wonderful person. He looked so healthy here, it was a bit of a shock to hear that he died today.

Oh man, that voice!!!! People listen songs and music and all I watch and hear is Alan Rickman's interviews and speech.
Nothing compares to this man. He's brilliant, way too intelligent and interesting, might I add choice of words. I have always been so amazed that he read all books like we did. The curious child inside still wondering and believing the Harry Potter world. He's so incredible. Sometimes I can't believe that Snape is his character he owns it so completely. And I am so in love with the both.

Alan Rickman was diagnosed with terminal cancer in Aug 2015. Which means when he gave this interview he already knew but he didn't show anything here. What a courageous man.

I just went through a 3 hr radiation cancer treatment and was able to watch these Rickman pieces during the long waits. I told the people attending me that Alan was my inspiration to not have fear and to remain cheerful and confident through the surgery and recovery. He handled it all so gracefully and l love and admire him so much. I had just lost my husband before all this and it was so comforting to watch his videos.

The fact that the question was about his experience filming the movies, and he spent the most time talking about how it was for him to watch Daniel, Emma and Rupert grow up inbetween the weeks he spent each year filming, was really heartwarming
