In the movie they literally make the point that changing the past won’t change the future, which is why they can’t just go to the past and kill baby thanos like Rhodes suggests. Each change made in the past creates a separate timeline. Also that would be a really dumb narrative, where all the emotion of Howard recognizing tony as his biggest achievement would come from realizing that he became a time traveler instead of coming from being proud of his son for being his son
