Why There's No iPhone 14 mini

In fall 2020, Apple revealed the iPhone 12 mini. The following year, it was refreshed with the 13 mini. But this year, Apple decided to abandon the model. Focusing instead on the larger 14 and 14 Plus. So why wasn’t there an iPhone 14 mini? Well, it had everything to do with its surprisingly poor sales performance.

It’s such a shame to see the mini discontinued. As a 13 mini owner, I cannot stand how massive and expensive iPhones are getting. Hopefully they’ll try again soon, and more people will actually by them instead of going for the absurdly expensive massive flagships.

Apple's primary mistake was selling both the SE and Mini at the same time. Those products were actively trying to kill each other thanks to Apple and the SE won the battle. Personally I think next year for iPhone 15, they may reboot SE to be exactly like iPhone mini while keeping it out of the iPhone 15 line.

I own an iPhone 13 mini and it's been my smallest iPhone since the 5c in 2013. I prefer a smaller phone as it fits nicely in my pocket, it's ergonomically superior and feels good in my hand. I think if Apple had've reduced the price a bit more it would've been a hit. Although, I guess adding an OLED display bumped the price up.

I AM SO MAD they discontinued it! I have the 13 mini and I love it, reachability with one hand, compact, small, fits in my pocket with other things. I want more light shed on the 13 mini and HOPE they bring it back.

I have the 13 mini since June, after selling my first iPhone ever in January 2022, the regular 13. I was happy with the regular 13, but holding my wife’s 12 mini, it felt so good in the hand, I went for the 13 mini. It gets me easily through the day and feels so light in the hand. Holding on to this one, till hopefully Apple will choose this size for a next SE in the future. Or maybe bring the mini back in lineup..

i love my 13 mini. i used to have a huge phone before and it was okay, but i have really small hands and it was annoying to never be able to use my phone with one hand, and it being so heavy and hard to put in the pocket (women’s clothes have little to no pockets so…), so i switched to the mini. it was a little bc of the price, but i was just excited to try a smaller phone. i regret nothing.

like sure, it has it’s cons, but the pros outweigh them for me. great purchase, so sorry to see it go! i’ll hold on to mine for sure

I feel some key points missing about the minis struggles

Yes some people wanted a smaller phone, but that’s the SE has been a huge success. The price is significantly lower than the regular models which also helped make the SE popular.
The mini however was not just much more expensive, but to get a regular iPhone 12 for just an extra 50-100 felt worth it to many

I still think there’s a market for a smaller phone, but it has to be priced more affordable

My friend upgraded from his old iphone 8 to the 13 mini simply because he loved the size of his 8 but didn't want the SE, he loves the new mini and is sad to see that Apple dropped them. Hopefully they'll bring them back

I recently jumped from original SE to 13 mini. I love Face ID. I love the camera. I love the notch. I love the brightness of the screen. But it’s just slightly too large. Reachability doesn’t help, all I do is accidentally activate it. I’m in the minority I know, but the original SE was just right.

I see those large beautiful screens on the Pro and Max and all I can think is “I’m so glad I don’t have to carry that around”. I do have an iPad mini for when I want to watch content on a plane or train, but otherwise I don’t need to carry a tv screen around with me.

I came from an iPhone 7 and my decision was between the 13 mini (form factor) and 13 Pro (pro features and battery). Went with the 13 Pro and got used to the size and weight, but not sure what my decison would have been if there had been the option for an iPhone 13 Pro mini (though I suspect the battery would have been a problem). Nevertheless, love the idea of the mini.

I have the 12 mini and love it for one hand use. I hope the new SE from now on will go from the 6/7/8 body to the 12/13mini body like when they went from 5/5s body to 6/7/8 body.

iPhone Mini is definitely a niche product. I just hope Apple would offer a Mini every now and then to satisfy fans.

I love my 13 mini. I’ve even thought about buying another one to have as a back up. However, and this might sound crazy, but I think they should’ve made it even smaller

I just got the 13 mini and i love it. I'm surprised the numbers are so low. It just fits so well in the hand / pocket. The battery life is plenty good enough for me, outstanding performance.... I hope they recycle de design for the next SE.

I'm surprised that the battery life wasn't mentioned. To me, that was the biggest issue I'm having with my iPhone 12 mini. The smaller display was actually working perfectly fine for me.
