Stretch All The Calf Muscles

There are 2 muscles in the calf that need to be stretched: the gastrocnemius and the soleus. Oftentimes, we only stretch the gastroc. Getting both stretched can help ankle, foot, and knee pain.

No matter how far i push it i feel nothing. Zero stretching. It hurts so bad. Been 10 years of constant pain and cramping. Only way i csn get a stratch is a slant board

I have had tight calf muscles for years. Caused other problems. Thought it was a magnesium deficiency but supplementation did not help. Watched your video. By the second day this has helped me so much! Much more than anything else I tried. Thank you so much. I will do everyday

Yes I do this often so much tension builds up there. Note I make it a discipline to not exhaust the muscles by over stretching

By the way, the solias muscle is also one of the most overlooked muscles to workout properly (not just stretch properly).

I’ll bet it would be safe to say that about 90% of people you see working out their calf muscles in the gym are doing standing toe-raises only.

For individuals looking to improve their calf muscles’ strength even more (AND appearance!), they should (edit: also) do bent-knee toe-raises.

Many gyms have a machine specifically for this exercise - otherwise, just place a weight (such as a dumbbell or flat plate) on top of your thighs - with as much of that weight directly over the knees - in a seated position. There are several YT shorts showing this.

Thanks for the advice, and also the calf is a very important muscle when trying to do the kazotsky kick because when you kick out you’ll want it in working shape because it can cause pain when you kick out and sometimes when you walk it will hurt

Hi, I just discovered this channel as well as this video. So is this stretch good after a long run? I'm a runner and need to know more static stretches after a good run. Atm, my lower calves are aching and need to stretch them the right way.

Great point! I've found over the years I have to change the distance between the feet in order to achieve different results. Was there a reason you bent the elbows more in the second stretch?
