Grow Unlimited Thyme From Cuttings

Thyme Cuttings Made Easy! As a member of the Mint family, Thyme is very easy to grow from the cuttings of adult plants, and possible even grocery store stems if they are fresh enough! It is not hard at all and doesn't require any tools or equipment.

In this video, I'll show you how to root Thyme cuttings in water and then transition them either to pots, or for planting straight into your spring garden. The process takes about 2 weeks to root them, and even though they are woody perennials, its easier than you think! :-)

2022 is most definitely the Year of the Garden! We deserve it after the last little while, and growing our own food and self sufficiency is just the reward we need to get back on track! For more information on all your gardening questions, check out my other videos!:

I was given cuttings from my beautiful great Aunt Helen about 10 years ago. My thyme has flourished over the years but now is very woody. Thank you for this amazing video 🥰

Fun fact:
if you cut the stems shorter so that you’re just dealing with the softer woody branches, and then clear away with your thumbnail the first 2 inches at the bottom, you can just stick them into potting soil and keep them underneath a cloche. They’ll root even quicker. No water changes needed.

That was quite a fantastic visual about the nodes and internodes! My grandfather, a lifelong nurseryman taught me about nodes :-) he Taught at University of Connecticut, and had a radio show about gardening! I myself am a huge permaculture enthusiast, and did Masters in medical humanities thesis on indigenous use of plants in remote Aboriginal villages in the mountains of Taiwan

Everytime I buy some, I transplant and it does. This time I bought a bigger pot full. Looked so healthy and thought I'll leave it in the pot this time. It still is dying.

This video made me realise they don't like the cold and maybe that's been the problem all along. I have only managed to save 2 stems, but got them in my glass of water and crossing my fingers. Thankyou.
