Ancient people were just as intelligent as modern people, most likely more so in many ways. They had to be much more in touch with the natural world just to survive. While lacking in the incredible amount of information we have at our fingertips today, they had vast knowledge of things we don't. Lessons are passed on through the generations by oral and physical traditions while constantly being expanded upon. It's the nature of mankind.

Ancient civilization was alot smarter than given credit. Certainly better equipped to handle arduous journeys on land or seas.

They used Bone Nails as suggested by a local who said they still did that because bone swells in place whereas metal nails rust and shrivel.
