Easy DIY Garden Trellis

Building a garden trellis can be intimidating--in this video, we will show how we build our Joanna Gaines-inspired garden trellis, which not only looks great but is inexpensive and sturdy! We also give a second DIY option that doesn't utilize any power tools if you are uncomfy with those.

This trellis is the one we use in the "last-minute/procrastinator garden plan" and can be used for climbing tomatoes, cucumber, beans, or even sweet peas or squash!

Remember to use safety equipment like safety glasses (oops, don't be like me) when using power tools.

Materials list for a 4x8 garden bed: (first design)
Four 8-foot length 2x2s, ideally redwood or cedar
2 1/2" deck screws

Tools used:
Chop saw
Power drill

Materials list for a 4x6 garden bed: (second design)
hemp twine
13 six-foot bamboo poles

I love it! I'm in Northern CO and planning my container garden. I do get a lot of wind up here - would love any tips for trellis in that regard :) Thanks for the great info!

You did great! There's a bit of anxiety for me when using a saw.

Were you a math teacher in another life? Btw, I love the looks of both trellises. Thanks for the demo. ~ LIsa

Math for gardening? The Montessori school my nephews attended built a garden to teach math as well as gardening. They did lots of measuring, but fortunately skipped the power tools. Both ended up as math wizards.
