Wow this TSA agent was incredibly professional with your working guide dog. No heightened excitement, or indication that the pat down was a reward pet, just a check, ignoring Maple as well as he could, and moving on. Wonderful.

I had the same experience flying a couple years ago, went through security and both i and my service dog had to get pat down. The employee was beaming and after patting down my lab, commented that this was her best day on the job ever. It was an adorable exchange.

I'm visually impaired and after I graduated from college, the Coordinator for Disability Services there asked if I would come back and help a blind student and a visually impaired student learn their way around campus, during the summer, when there weren't as many students there.
The blind student had a big, beautiful golden retriever, who was a sweetheart!

We were walking towards the science building and a summer student walked up and commented on how pretty the dog was.
The blind student said, "Thank you!"
He had a specialized handle on her, like the dog in the video and he had "Service Dog" on his wide leash.

The summer student held her arm out, to pet the dog, and I stepped towards her and told her she wasn't allowed to pet the dog, because he was a service animal.

His owner explained that the dog was trained to listen to him and help him as needed.

The summer student paused, took a step forward, and decided she was going to try and pet the dog anyway.

She lunged at the dog, with her hand, and the poor dog barked, jumped backwards, and snapped its mouth at the girl, as she tried to rub its head.

She jumped backwards and I grabbed the blind student by the arm and told him we should go.
He signaled to the dog we were leaving and the dog peacefully stood up and started walking!

You don't play with service animals!

The guide dog I raised got “career changed” for being too wiggly and excited, so I love seeing how Mr maple has so much wiggle and fun and is still an amazing guide dog ❤
