In our wet Irish climate drying clothes can be expensive, this video shows how to dry clothes indoors and capture the moisture before it enters the room. There is also a basic explanation of the running cost.
The box is sealed off with polyboard and tape, or you could apply 2/3 layers of varnish. The idea being to keep the wood from getting moist.
My dehumidifier is a standard room drier but you can also get ones with a clothes drying function, which would be better.

6 months on from still going great. Room temperature does affect the rate of drying, but not much. The biggest advantage is the clothes are not wearing away, The intake filter is spotless unlike a tumble dryer and the clothes come out soft not stiff like on a radiator. I am delighted with it to be honest.
